Hello and Goodbye or Goodbye and Hello

Hello Family,

God is good. We are back in the States after about a two-week trip to Mozambique and a day spent in Indiana at OMS. Our time in MZ was very good but very difficult. We had time with most of the leaders that we have grown close to. In our time back in MZ we heard of a new baby being born (to Nelsen in Gurue) and new churches being planted (5 new ones in Nampula). Life continues to go on in both our homes (Oregon and MZ) while we're away. It was very difficult to say goodbyes and leave a ministry in what we thought was an untimely manner, but we know that God is in control and has a plan. He not only has a plan, but a better plan.

In our time at OMS in Indiana we met with many people concerning our future ministry. Right now (until I’m cleared medically to travel) I will continue to give oversight to ECC ministries in MZ and possibly other countries. We want to keep what God is doing in MZ moving forward. We will also be looking at using the model created in MZ and how we as an organization might develop it and use it in other ECC ministries. Once cleared to travel we will help with implementation and training of ECC multiplication teams and partners.

All this will be in balance with my main focus right now, completing my Master of Divinity. I will be starting at George Fox Evangelical Seminary full-time in January. Our official status with OMS is “Study Assignment”. We are planning on returning to the field at the completion of my degree. We ask that you would prayerfully consider continuing to support us in this new chapter of ministry. We will not be receiving a salary during this assignment, but still will need a support account to facilitate the above ministries.

The Girls are adjusting well to life and school back in the States. I will be on staff at our local church on a part-time basis and Deanna will be looking for employment. We thank you all for your support over the past few years. We will keep you updated as we get settled in and life starts again.

Your Brothers in Christ,
Nathan & Deanna goodbye
