Zambezia - With Much Praise
Greetings All,
We are all doing well. I returned from Zambezia Tuesday last week, April 26th. It was an incredible trip. All of your prayers went before us. We used the Jesus film as a teaching tool in Sururua, Gurue, and UP-2. There was an amazing amount of people that would come to the film every night. We have conservatively estimated that 3500 people heard the gospel message, and 400 people accepted Christ. After the final night in UP-2 the village chief wanted to speak. When things like this happen I always say a little prayer having no idea what might come out of his mouth. He went on to say, “he had never heard the gospel explained clearly and that he and everyone there that night had a big decision to make”. He went on to say “the choice we make is for eternity”. With over 2000 people in attendance that night, over 300 people accepted Christ. Needless to say this was the highlight of the trip, but there are many similar stories from this trip. Praise be to God!
We also started training 6 new leaders for further church growth. There are two men from each church. We would meet with the leaders for training for 4-5 hours per a day. It was a great time of growth and this was just the beginning of their continued training. They will meet one week per a month in the central city of Gurue.
We also held Bible studies about everyday at the new Gurue church. They were very well attended with anywhere from 30 to 120 people. Paito would hold a children’s study at the same time, and kids would come from everywhere. The first day there was just a hand full and by the end of our time, there might have been around 50-60 children.
Sururua also had their first baptism and communion. This is the original church in the village Dinis is from. It was a joyous way to finish our time in Zambezia, two baptisms and a full church. Sururua church is doing well. We saw much growth in the body there, spiritually as well as numerically.
Many of you have asked about my boils, they are fine. A funny story to go with them… Upon returning to Maputo I continued to have some problems so we made an appointment in South Africa with the normal Doctor. Well the doctor in Gurue had prescribed two medications, one was right, but the other was for liver damage (normally given to hepatitis patents). Needless to say my liver is doing very well. Everyone also has asked how I contracted them… well the easy answer is I’m not sure. We had taken all the dinking water needed for the trip.
Thank you all for your love and support.

In Christ,

PS- There is a video going out in the next couple weeks of the trip up north.
