First Update Email From August 4, 2004

Greetings All,

It is great to have our internet up and running, We just finished
having it installed today. Well as you can see by the subject, we are
in Mozambique safe and sound. We arrived Thursday at 3:00pm local time.
All our baggage arrived on the same flight as us, PTL! We have adjusted
to the time zone and have settled in nicely to our new home. We had a
great time in our first national church service, Emily made some
friends and she taught them ring around the rosy. We had the chance to
go out to the Khongolate church where there is a building project going
on right now. Deanna was in a woman's bible study where there were two
languages spoke. It will be good to learn the language which we hope
to start on next week. The girls start school on the 10th and they are
excited. They are sharing a room right now but I'm sure it wont last
long. The house is large and we have lots of room for anyone who wants
to come. :) We are even going to paint some of the walls this week.
They haven't been painted for a long time and need a fresh coat. We
went shopping a few times at different stores in the area and have
found that there is a lot of food we enjoy. They even have a new store
that opened up a few weeks ago called "the Chili Pepper". They had the
same thai spices we used in Oregon and they even had sweet chili. And
if you know us well you know those are things that we enjoy. Deanna
went crazy in the store because they had blue cheese and all these
other fancy cheeses and meats. Just some things that we would have only
on special occasions but it was neat to see if we really felt like some
good cheese we could find it. The craving would have to be strong
though because it is very expensive. If you would want to call us our
number is 0112581400881. The cheapest way is to purchase a
international card at Costco, it would cost .24 per minute. There is no
cheap way for us to call out. Thank you all for your prayers. We both
feel them every day. We love it here and are looking forward to see how
God will use us here. Today I was studying in Joshua 24, and came
across a quote from John Wesley "They that are bound for heaven must be
willing to swim against the stream, and must do, not as most do, but as
the best do". We pray for you as our supporters daily and thank God for
each one of you.

In Christ,
