Children's Center Update - September 2009

 Building Update

Praise God!  His mercy and grace are abundant!  Our New Children’s Center is “dried in” and the construction efforts have moved into the homestretch!  Continued blessings have been around every corner…cooperative weather, collaborative efforts between workers, a responsive architect, material availability, strong support/leadership from Del Morrow and the building committee, and an accommodating and supportive leader!  There is a lot to be thankful for!  This has all led to GREAT anticipation and excitement as the finishing stages of construction approach, and reasonably accurate estimates have been made as it relates to a completion date and final costs. 

The majority of the building’s exterior is complete.  While this work is mostly done, there are still many tasks that remain outside.  Contractors continue their work on the brick, roof, and windows, which are all nearly finished.  Additionally, installation of the metal siding on the third floor has begun, and will wrap up soon.  Furthermore, much of the final site work, along with installation of exterior awnings will begin in the days and weeks ahead. 

As it relates to the interior of the building, many finishes are currently being applied and each day it looks more and more like a space in which ministry can take place.  The elevators are here and installed!  Plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work continue, along with the hanging of sheetrock.  Walls on the first floor are to be painted shortly with the second floor to follow immediately thereafter.  In the days and weeks ahead, cabinets will be delivered for installation and preparations made for installation of flooring.  Finally, the third floor fireplace will arrive and be installed soon, along with bathroom tile.

Exciting and substantial progress continues outside and inside! 

Thank you to all for your ongoing prayers and support.  As the project approaches completion over the months to come, please pray for a strong finish by everybody involved and continued safety for those working on the site.  As a reminder, all are welcome and encouraged to observe the construction activities, but it still must be done from outside the fenced area.  Safety remains the top priority. 

It is such a rewarding time to see the New Children’s Center coming to fruition, and having completion within our sights.  To God be the glory forever and ever!
