Onward and inward!  Great progress continues on the new Children's Center!  Exterior brick work is nearly complete and window placement has begun.  Installation of metal siding will start this week along with roofing on the lower west side of the building.  Summer weather has provided a great opportunity to move quickly through several phases of construction.  Although plenty of work remains outside, the exterior of the structure should be completely sealed up during the next 45 days, allowing the majority of the work to move inside.

As the brick work is completed, metal siding is applied, and windows are installed, the building’s final exterior appearance will no longer be a mystery.  What an exciting time to watch construction as a key piece of the current stage will be the installation of large glass portions of the building.  Yes, those HUGE openings on the north side of the third floor are windows which will display some spectacular views!  There will also be some beautiful views to the east and west from both the second and third floors.  As soon as the structure’s exterior is sealed, interior sheetrock will begin and HVAC units will be lifted into place on the roof.

A point of interest and excitement for many is the small lobby area located outside the elevator on the third floor.  It will have a cozy fireplace with a great view to the west.  This comfortable space will undoubtedly become a favorite for small gatherings and fellowship.

An ongoing thank you goes out to all those that have supported the project in so many different ways.  Recently, a few of you have sacrificed some evenings to provide nighttime security.  These efforts have proved very helpful and effective in protecting the site from vandalism and theft.  Keep up the good work!  Your contributions are appreciated.

Excitement and anticipation continue to grow as everything progresses.  You can still take advantage of the opportunity to observe construction, but it must be done from outside the fenced work area because safety is the highest priority.  Your ongoing prayers and support are vital and appreciated as the exterior of our new Children’s Center rapidly approaches being “dried in” and the focus of the construction efforts move inside.
