Children's Center Update - June 2009

 Building Update

Onward and upward!  Tremendous progress continues on the construction of our New Children’s Center!  The building is really coming together, making it clearer each day what it will look like when completed.  There is a strong sense of anticipation and excitement by everyone involved as things keep taking shape.

Currently, masons are onsite and have begun placing block/brick, door frames will soon be installed, and the last of the structural steel will be in place around the end of the month.  The ongoing installation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire suppression systems will continue at a steady pace.

Completing the structural steel is a huge milestone.   This symbolizes that the heavy structural work is behind us and the project is moving toward the “drying” and “finish” stages of the job.  During this critical time, siding of the exterior of the building with metal and brick will occur, sheeting will go on the interior walls, and roofing will be installed on the eastern portion of the building.  Additionally, installation of glass will begin, along with that of the elevator.  Once the glass is in, a majority of the construction efforts will be directed toward and focused on interior finishes.

If you have not already taken advantage of the opportunity to view the construction area, now is an interesting time to do so.  There are a wide variety of trades performing work all at the same time.  For safety reasons, however, please continue to stay clear of the immediate construction area by observing from the second floor window of the main church building, or from a distance.

Construction of our New Children’s Center has been blessed with accommodating weather for the most part and quick progress.  All indications are that the project is on schedule and costs are in line with expectations.  It is going to be a lively and productive summer season.  Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
