Children's Center Update - May 2009

 Building Update

Great progress continues to be made daily on the new Children's Center!  The construction site has really come alive in recent weeks, as the many different trades plan for and begin their work on location.  It remains an exciting time to watch construction as the process moves forward and the structure takes shape.

At the present time, a majority of the steel for the building's shell has been erected.  While most of this structural steel work has been completed, a significant portion remains to be done on the west side of the building.  Assembly of the remaining steel will occur over the next several weeks and is projected for completion during June.  Once this is done, the final appearance structurally will be clearer to the casual observer.

Another major accomplishment recently was the completion of concrete work on the first and second floors.  Despite significant weather challenges, the crews were able to get finished without the final product being compromised.  A big THANK YOU goes out to Salem Concrete and all those who helped to make this a successful pour!

Moving forward, structural steel work will continue, and the third floor concrete will be poured very soon.  Additionally, exterior and interior framing of the walls has begun and will continue, along with installation of the fire suppression system.  You can also expect to see the electrical and plumbing contractors continue their work during the coming weeks.  Considerable progress is being made each day as people continue to work diligently.  What an awesome time to watch this project come together!

As a reminder, anyone who would like to observe construction is encouraged to do so from a distance or through the windows of the viewing area located on the second floor of the main church building.  For safety reasons, it is imperative that only authorized construction personnel enter the construction zone.  It is extremely dangerous, especially while steel continues to be assembled.

All indications show that the project remains on schedule and costs are as projected.  Your continued prayers and support are vital to this ongoing work!
